ROME Therapeutics is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their incredible team. The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain accounting records as well as examine, analyze and interpret accounting records. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic team-player who has a solid accounting background and seeks an opportunity to work in a health and life sciences company.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reconciling select balance sheet and P&L accounts, and performing monthly analytical reviews as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, other disclosures and supporting documents.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices.
  • Understand and support the 3-way match of PO’s, receipts, and invoices including working with the purchasing team at Bioprocure to facilitate the matching process.
  • Prepare weekly payment file for review and approval and initiate and facilitate the payment of supplier invoices in the ERP system once the payment file is approved.
  • Responsible for the review and maintenance of the Accounts Payable inbox.
  • Timely review and approval of employee expense reports and related support to ensure accurate completion based on company policies.
  • Timely and accurate review and tie out of bi-weekly payroll files provided by 3rd party payroll provider.
  • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation and GL coding of corporate credit card transactions.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of an effective system of internal controls.
  • Responsible for fixed asset accounting and asset tracking.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and initiatives (e.g., system upgrades, process improvements).

What You’ll Bring

 Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • CPA designation preferred but not required
  • 1-2 years of experience in an accounting environment
  • Self-starter/proactive and willingness to take on and learn new skills
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP rules related to the timing of invoice and expense recognition
  • Computer skills in Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, and Excel) a must
  • Experience in NetSuite, Prendio, Concur, a plus
  • Experience in Biotech / Life Science a plus
